International RXT

They are very cool trucks. Be sure to get the International VT365 (300hp/560tq. The only downside is they are equiped with an Allison 2200 RDS transmission, which is rated at 26,000 lbs max GCW, so if the truck weighs 10,500 lbs, the max you can carry / pull including passengers is 15,500 lbs, which is not a lot. You would be much better off with an Freightliner M2 or F650. They come with much more powerful engines and Allison 3000 RDS transmissions, which are rated at 80,000 GVW. They will pull anything you care to haul without batting an eye.

Lazlo the RXT is $70-90k. I agree with aTX427 if you have that kind of coin a new or pre-owned F650 is a much better deal because you get a LOT more truck for the money. The F650 normally comes with the Cat C7 which makes 300/860, but the 325/610 Cummins is a popular choice too. International diesels are way underpowered compared to Cat and Cummins.

OK sounds good, my next choice would be a International sport chasi P2XL with the larger diesel in it, the used market on them is pretty good right now as well. Any experience with those ?

The P2XL is definetly top of the line. I would have purchased one myself, but they were almost double the cost of my F650. You may wan tto look into insurance and financing (if necessary) because they are all considered commercial vehicals, which makes if much more expensive and difficult to obtain.

If you can get, what amounts to, an recreational vehicle plate on it and not need a CDL.....why wouldnt your insurance and bank not follow suit?
