Default Looking for Header info.

I have an 06 25 Outlaw with a 496 HO. If I were to add headers does anyone on this forum recommend one brand over another? Also What are the typical power gains of adding just headers? Thanks for any info you may have.

If you want to spend lots of money on shiny parts buy CMI. If you want to save money & gain just as much as 48 more HP, which so happens to be what you'd gain with CMIs. Go with the Dana Marine 496 exhaust.
Here are the Dyno results:

CMI's are the headers I'd "personally" recommend. They make an E-Top tubular style header in polished SS or satin finish. They are extremely resonable, when compared to any other compatable headers on the market. They also offer a Sport Tube header, which are the the headers used on most of the Mercury Hi-Perf engines today. These ones do get a little more pricey, but they are certainly a nice blingy enhancement to any engine compartment and they'll typically gain more HP over others.

We have seen "some" Baja 25' O/L's gain 3 mph after installing headers on 496 HO (when prop change occurs - due to raised RPM's). We have seen "some" not gain any MPH on top end, but have a noticeably better throttle response & mid range.

If your looking to gain MPH on your 25' O/L (496 HO), we offer a Kit that includes Re-Calibrating ECU, Cooler Thermostat, Customized Prop Exchange, & Additional engine compartment Air Intakes. This Kit is usually good for an additional 3+ MPH, over stock.

i'm all for the dana marine headers, love them, was turning a 23 mirage plus @4800rpm and after headers could turn a 25 mirage plus @ 4700, gained around 3mph to run 69mph, before procharger install

What kind of boat?

I thinking about putting Dana's on a 221 93 liberator with built 454 to equivalent of 496 right now run @ 67-68 at 5100 rpm with 23 pitch quicksilver but with stock exhaust the 25 pitch drops me to 65 at 4700 rpms. Based on your info looks like Dana has jump to front of line for choices.

I too was impressed by my Dana headers. IMHO they are the best bang for the buck if you are going to be boating in fresh water. I'm not sure that aluminum would be the best choice for saltwater though.
