Default Messed up the finish on my SS fenders !!!

I used hull cleaner on my boat, and it dripped on my Stainless fenders. It messed up the finish on them some how. It's like it etched them or something. I've tried every rubbing compound i can think of. Nothing works. It seems, like where the hull cleaner saturated the fenders, it's better looking than where it may have just slightly splashed or have droplets on. I'm not sure what to do other than sand them all down and repolish them..... Anyone have any info on this?

Id just bite the bullet and sand them and clay them out.... I know it sucks but its probably the only way to get them perfect. Best of luck
