New exhaust
#2
I just picked up a smokin deal on some Gils from a fellow OSO'r...750 bucks w/way low hours! Look around, theres deals out there. I wouldn't say you need headers either. Just some nice gil, imco, stainless marine, etc etc etc regular manifold exhaust.

Unless you plan on doing some other modifications to the engine or switching enginesin the future, the exhaust will more than likely give you no better performance than stock through hull.

I agree with Griff, you are just wasting money unless you intend to make more modifications to the motor. If I recall correctly you were mentioning trading boats after this season anyway. Save your money, buy something with a mag motor, then exhaust and supercharge her!

i may trade in for a similar boat but w/ diff. engine package like a 25 outlaw is what i want but i will hve to wait andsee.. i am aware that i would not pick up much performance gains but the boat would definitly sound better, and i would be supercharging also in the future.i cant complain this is my first boat and it is a good one to get started w/ . i am just glad the wife let me keep since we are expecting our first child in june.
i am going to look in to stainless marine and gil. i like both comp. products .
thanx

Hey Guys
Is it possible you guys that did not get anything from the instalation of headers/manifolds were already bumping against your rev limiter thus requiring stepping up in prop pitch? I thought I remember Hot Boat doing an article a few years back where they gained 6 MPH with the instalation of Stainless Marine Manifolds? Anyone remember that? I would be really bummed if I spent $1500 to $3000 and got nothing but louder.

Simply changing to aftermarket aluminum manifolds will NOT get ANYONE 6 mph. No matter what boat you are running. Without further mods like intake, carb, head work, cam change, etc... there is almost nothing to be gained from a stock motor with an exhaust change. Louder and 100 lbs lighter is all you will notice. Might get you .5 to 1 mph at WOT in perfect water conditions. I know this from first hand knowledge. Added manifolds knowing I would be making mods. Added nothing until I made other mods. Baja 24 Sport.

6mph !!!!----NOOOOOTTTTTTT!!!! --NEVER--- NO WAY. The best claims I've seen by any manufacturer are 35-40hp gains. It takes 100-140hp to gain 6 mph in an average single engine boat.
BTW, I did a cam, carb, K&N arrestor, carb spacer, milled heads, and Imco exhaust and gained 3mph/300rpms. Running 5400rpms with a 23 Mirage+. Could go to a 25 and maybe gain another 1-2mph. This is on a 24 Outlaw.
