Default Anyone with K Planes on a 32 Dominator?

Looking to put the K planes on, but don't seem to have enough room on the port side considering the port drive location.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Bruce

Hey Bruce give the factory a call, I have K-planes on my 32', I ordered it that way, they are an option, I'm sure they will be able to give you measurements and some imput on were to mount them. Good Luck

I've been there already... What year is your 32? Apparently on the older versions, port motor was shifted over to compensate for leaning. This limits room for a standard K-Plane. Right now, I have Bennetts on there and the port tab is cut so it doesn't interfere with the drive.

Bruce did you talk to Wayne? did he have any suggestions? How far over did they shift the engine? My boat is a 2002. Have you looked into other makes besides the Merc K-planes. I know Keith Eickert makes some as well as Arneson Industries, and Eddie Marine has their own Billet K-Plane style trim tab maybe one of these are narrower, or they could custom make a narrower set for you. Post a thread on the main board asking about other manufacturers of trim tabs. Good luck, let us know what you find out.

Yes, I have spoken with Wayne, but only suggestion I received was to cut them.. Ironic you ask to try another brand. They are actually Keith Eikerts, they match the blueprint of a K plane and I really will not be able to cut them. With your 2002, I'm pretty sure your motors are alligned and they are compensating the lean with the drives on yours. My last thought is I'm going to highly modify my bennets by adding ribs and length to them. Building new motors and am pretty sure I'm going to need additional tab for stabillity.

Bruce the tabs Eddie Marine make are 12'' wide, I think that's a couple of inches narrower than the KE, Also give Rick a call at Arneson Industries 1-415-485 0788 they can custom make you a set of rocker plates, any size you want, a lot of race teams are useing them.

That sounds like a good idea. I'll try giving them a call
I guess I will need to get exact measurements to me going further. Although I was hoping someone with an older 32 had run into this problem as well so as to save me the time and effort of researching. Thanks again Kirk

Bruce, I have a 2001 32 w/280S K-Planes. The drive is moved approx. 3/4" off center to port. The plane placement is tight but I wouldn't think that the bottom and drive placement on your boat is that much different that mine. The guys at Sunsation should be able to help you with changes that were made throughout the years and if this installation is possible. Where in FL is the town you live in? Where do you boat and how does the 32 handle the water down there? My wife and I are looking to relocate to South Florida and I would like to hear from someone who is still living there.

AZ, I pretty much boat on both Coasts, the boat handles very well in fairly big water (Daytona area, Sarasota and South Florida) but still nothing is better then size. You will have alot of fun with your boat down here, what makes the Sunsation such a great boat to me is its handling and how its built. I feel they put a lot of time and effort in to the construction. I'm sure you will feel the same but may get somewhat intimidated by the larger deep v's down there. Alot of big cigarettes, black thunders etc. run down there.
