Default GM Base marine 502 Valve question.

Do these motors come with Inconel valves? I'm thinking of buying one from www.1800runsnew.com for 5800, but want to make sure its a good motor. Does mercruiser use Inconel valves in there 502 415hp

Not even in the Mag 502 or 454?? So i shouldnt be worried about droping one of the these GM Base motors in as long as I run it stock and no mods without changing to Inconel valves.

I just want to have a super relieable motor.

Are the GM Base motors the exact the same as a Merc long block.

I just want to make sure this is a good motor.

I've installed quite a few of these motors from 800 runs new. Infact a friend just got one last week. It's new not a re-man. They are a good deal, never an issue.

I bought Brand new GM long Block from 1800runsnew last year and disassembled it down to a short block and yes they do use the best parts GM performance sells. They do use stainless intake and Inconel exhaust valves

Here are the specs on the cylinder Heads

Wow, thanks for all the info! Nobody has been able to tell me if the GM motors have inconel valvess, most say no, and say all black mercruiser motors dont have them unless its a Mercury racing motor.

How did you tell that the ones in your motor were inconell, can you tell when you disasemble the heads?

Ok now im confused....gm part # 14097049 doesnt say anything about being inconel?? It looks like its the same valve they use in the 502 car and truck motors. I googled that part number and nothing about marine came up.....

I wish GM have a break down of internal components in there Marine motor this would be alot better.

They dot even list a 502 on the GM Marine web site, just the new 6.0 and 496 new generation stuff. I looked for a phone number to call gm but nothing is listed for the marine division.

You really don't need inconel exhaust valves in stock 415hp engine anyway.

That part number may very well be an inconel valve. They are $49 each at Pace Perf and that is about the same cost as Manly extreme duty/inconel valves. Pace lists the part number with an F in front of it, so it could even be a Ferrea valve.
