Default Hydraulic Steering Ram length

Looking to purchase new or used full hydraulic steering for twin bravo setup. The rams need to be mounted between the drives. Will any length ram work?

There is approximately 22" between the centers of the transom assemblies.

No. The systems are different and the ram length is determined by the mounting brackets, rear cap or wing plate, etc. Each system dictates what ram is to be used. IMCO has what I think to be the cleanest set up for twin bravos. It is a triangle mount that mounts between the drives and holds both rams. Mayfair is the best bang for the buck. It is a very nice system and is the most reasonably priced. Let me know if you are interested since I am a dealer for just about all systems.

Like Eddie said the geometry changes based on a lot of things. Most will be between 7 and 8" stroke

I have the Marine Machine rams on mine and made my own s/s
mounting plate. I could measure the travel of the rod later , I think it's probably around 8"-10" with my setup.

I think the 8" Stroke is common, but the rams required length & stroke still can vary depending on the wingplate & the transom mounting location.. You usually need to to determine those first to that you can pick the proper ram & stroke.. Also you need to know what size clevis you want.. Jamie / Lakeside

I have the rod end on my tiebar , but the clevis is a better choice allowing for more movement between the drives and the teflon inserts could be easily changed out when worn .

Thanks for all the info. I am planning to look for used parts over the winter to see if I can piece a system together.
