How do you tell/measure if you have a tall deck or a short deck blocks?

I don't know the exact dimension. but if you have one of each in your shop, measure the span of the gap between the heads at the base of the intake. The wider of the 2 is a tall deck. That is the easiest way I have ever done it.

the space inbetween the top water pump hole to the top of the deck.short deck app .187 tall deck app .300.

Roughly
Standard is 6 1/4
Tall deck is 6 3/4
Across bottom of intake head to head corner

I was wondering when you were gona say that....

Thumper look at the water inlets on the other thread his looks futher from the heads than mine.

I went crosseyed looking at the pic, but if you follow the acc bolt holes in the head from the bottom one to the top close to intake, it would run close like yours but not a great pic
