Anyone know if (on 04' and newer models) the factory uses 5200 or the like to "glue" the transom assembly to the outside of the boat?
I was hoping someone out there knew first hand before I attempt disassembly. .

I would say call the company that built the boat.

They aren't suppose to. There is a foam rubber gasket that seals to the transom. Now, thats not to say that the boat builder didn't put something on the gasket. I have seen it happen one time where the builder put silicone/adhesive on the gasket. It is designed to go on dry. Good luck.

I'd think the sealing is a Merc specified recommendation, not the boat builders???

Good Idea, I have corresponded with Bud at Cig, put in a e-mail Monday, he may be at KW...hasn't gotten back to me yet.
Exactly what I do not want to have.

Are we to assume that you have a Bravo One outdrive?
See #14 for the O ring rubber gasket. Merc does glue the gasket to the housing. Second the dry install. If you wish an additional sealant, apply a 4200 or 5200 3M sealant bead on the outside edge of the housing/transom.

5200, in my opinion, is for something you really never want to disassemble again.
