Propshaft Height Or X
#1
LOOKING FOR FEED BACK, I am changing a x of 14 = 8'' prop shaft height to 17 1/2 or 18''= 3 1/2'' or 3'' prop shaft height. for my set up which is a konrad ace with a 8'' box, I have a friend with a non step vee at 4 3/8'' no box and he is doing great. so Iam looking for others that have a high x or what do most of the nonstep boats have. thanks for any feed back. art

Hi Artie, just remember all boat will have different characteristics. I would talk to the manufacturer as they should good starting point. When making choices on a box flexibility is key to allow adjustability in your set up as you test. What type of tabs are you going to use? I would go with the 380's as you are using a box. Safety first and for most before speed.

Full pleasure 28 Pantera's run a 17" X dimension. With the ITS Jo raised it a 1/2 inch on Patriot Games.
Set it at 18" and use a Stellings box that gives you an inch of up or down movement.

Arti don't brain F this thing!!! LOL
remember it is easier to put a spacer in there. Actually if you lift it up to high I know some one that has the standard lower that could be swapped out fo your shortie.

Standard XR with the ITS is what was used on Patriot Games(Vonbongo's old boat). I talked to Jo at Pantera about my X. I had a notched transom and due to the notch My X was at 20" with a 2" spacer. I actually lowered my propshaft depth an inch with a 3" spacer and had good results. Jo said if they go higher than about 17" on pleasure boats that they can't get enough bite to lift the bow.

ART ps we will have the new template this week so I will post what I will use. I think the step hulls a lot use 17 to 18'' with a notch thats like a box so at 20 -3 is 17 that works good for you are you running a 4 or 5 blade,. I plan on a 5 myself have 2 props now which should be close. I am betting a 30px5 or 32b1 will work the best with 5000lbs between a 1050 to 1100hp. thanks keepem coming and the BANANA GUYS KNOW JEB he guided me threw the motor hatch for the baja with a pro stock scoop and other ideas he is great with electronics, fg work, obs, motors . I have told the people on baja site about it and its in the picks. now I just got to sell the baja in pieces or whole.
