Default Best 271 performance upgrades

I have a 1999 271 with an HP 500 EFI, this is an open question to the group;[LIST]
* what are the best performance upgrades poeple have found.
* Also, what is the best prop that the group has found for this boat. I currently run a Bravo 1, and seem to be expereincing a lot of prop slip.
* And I would appreciate any performance information the group has found with the 271 (speeds, motors, etc)

When you say "setback", are you referring to an extension box? Also, folks will probably want to know what pitch B1 you are running.

And while I am in an asking mood, anyone change the rotation of the prop, it seems that mine requires a LH prop, which makes it tougher in finding props to try in my area. Does anyone know why Formula used the LH rotation instead of the more common RH rotation?

I don't know the reason, but after about 95 especially in 97 with the fastech it seems that they put LH on all the 271's also on the fastechs they changed the gear ratio to 1.65 instead of 1.50 like mine, my 502 is starting to get tired and I am begining to think of some power options either this spring or next winter, I'd like to make it a honest 65mph boat and stay reliable

After loking through many many threads< here is what I have come up with as best course of action:

- blueprint the bottom
- stick with the Bravo prop, expereiment with pitch and blue print prop

I have two questions remaining:

- anyone put a Land and Sea Stern Jack or extension box on a 271 Fastech?

_ anyone get the Arazona Speed single plane throttle body for the HP500EFI?

Don't quote me on this, but I believe you may be able to call Formula directly and get a little insight on your question regarding a 271 and an extension box. They fooled around putting extension boxes on a lot of their SR1/Fastech models. I know this because the previous owner of my 303 seriously contemplated adding boxes to the boat. He contacted Formula and they had done it. They recommended not adding them.

So give them a shout, maybe they have experimented with a 271 as well.
