Default How should I go about fixing my skeg?

I just got a bravo setup for my boat switching from and alpha and the skep looks like it was broken and cut and it is also bent abit. Should I get a new skeg welded on or could i get away with a skeg guard

It depends on how badly it is really damaged & where on the skeg it is dammaged.. Jamie / Lakeside

A lot of it depends on how fast the boat is. If the boat is going to run over 60 mph, then a bent skeg will have adverse affects on how the boat handles. The best thing to do is to disassemble the lower and have a new skeg tig welded on. Any competent welder can do the welding, but I would have someone that knows outdrives disassemble and reassemble the lower. Good luck.
