Default Drag Snowmobiles racing on water!

Now on Speedvision, they have drag SNOWMOBILES racing on water. Anyone else see this? Pretty wild, they start on a beach run across a pond up to 4 at a time. They even christened a World Champion.

I read an article a couple years ago about a race between a jetski and a snowmobile.......13 turn course on the water!!!!

The writer felt the jetski should have the nod for the obvious reason that it can FLOAT. He said the winner was going to be painfully clear after just 2 laps....the snowmobile!!!

Apparently a 3 in wide jet of water cannot propel nearly as fast as a 18 in wide, 4 ft long belt can grab the water. The jetski did a bit better in the turns, but the snowmobile would out-excel in the straights making huge gains. Obviously these were both pro riders.

Isn't it funny that Snowmobile Racing on water gets TV coverage but not Offshore Powerboat Racing. I just can't figure that out.

Thanks for the pics Glad. Nice to see them wearing protective gear-everything except a lifejacket! And to think this is worthy of TV time.

The driver of the snowmoblie was my old boss when I worked as a snowmoblie/Jetski mechanic. His name is Jeff Fisher (Motorsports Plus) from Eagan, Minnesota. Its a great sport and I have rode a few of them during practice. The acceleration would blow your mind.

here is a link to the race organization.
