Default Flushing Engines with fresh water and Dawn

I know alot of people flush their engines with fresh water and dawn. Does anybody have any knowledge that using dawn could be bad or harm on the gaskets in the water passages?

Thanks

Never used Dawn liquid. But have used Cascde dishwasher soap dry type alot. Will clean out scale and any oil residue. In the old days we used Borax powder. Do not know if it would do the raw waterpump any justice (dry type). My 4 cents.

The dawn helps "eat" the salt scale. Mercruiser says to put on new impeller installs too.
