Default NV3500 - rebuild or junkyard replacement?

Changed the fluid, it looked like I was panning for gold...
It's a '93 behind a 305TBI and not planning on doing any hard labor. The shifter doesn't like 3-4 before it warms up, it's sloppy all the time, but it still works fine. I see bearings and synchros are about $250 but I've never done trans internals - just remove/replace.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Around $500. Limited or no warranty. Finding rebuilts on Ebay for as low as $600. Not a bad price for a trans, but if I can do it myself...
