Default Opinions 2003 F-350 Non Dually

Have an opportunity to pick up a 2003 F-350 diesel, 4x4, Crew Cab with 124,000. Leather loaded for ~ $13,000. I think it might need some tranny repair. It feels like it slips in overdrive but not sure. Engine runs great. Opinions welcomed. I am searching old threads but, need some quick input.
Thanks

Is it a 6.0? I'd be leary of an 03 6.0. Certified Automatic Transmission on Fulton in GR (Steve R/Blue Moon) would be a good person to talk to about the tranny. He just rebuilt a tranny and t-case for me last week in a work truck.

I think you should buy the truck, fix the transmission and drop a Cummins in it.

'03 6.0 - better have full service records. At 124K miles, it should have had all the issues the 6.0's had taken care of by now. If they haven't been addressed, they will need to be...

At $13K & needing a tranny, not that great of a deal.

Didn't Ford use the 7.3 in part of 2003?

Yep, early '03's were 7.3L and by that time ABS was standard ('01+??). Nice truck.

I wouldn't do it. That was the worst year for the 6.0! Especially if it needs trans work, that could be up near 2k. I'd look for something a little newer if you can.

Steve did 2 tranny's for me this summer and my BW's in my panther 5 years ago.

Ill check on if it is a 6.0 or 7.3. So far it is not looking to be a great deal. I would like to get into a inexpensive diesel one of these days......

If its a 7.3, thats not a bad deal, cause those motors will last forever if taken care of properly.
