Default What GPS to buy?

Hi folks, I’m thinking about getting a GPS for my 2005 29’ Fountain. Anyone have any recommendations on a make/model?

So many options it’s confusing – handheld, mountable, fixed mount, internal or external antenna, apps for iPhone, etc.

Most of my boating is on the California Delta, and I sometimes venture off to the bay and Pacific coast.

Thanks in advance.

boatnt, can I ask where you bought it and what was the price? I received an e-mail with one for sell and the price didn't seem to bad but don't know anything about Northstar and it seems most people say Garmin. What inland lakes does it come with? Does it have the great lakes or do you have to buy chips for different areas?

Sorry I can't help you with your question on what GPS to buy.

I wouild get a mount type gps but still make it removeable for theft. internal antenna usually works prety good,no hassil's running an antenna cable and antenna. I have had good luck with Garmin and Northstar. personal preference.

The price from Livorsi does seem great I am just a bit concerned that no one has posted their experience with the Northstar. Are they any good?
