Default Filling Mechanical Fuel Pump with Gear Oil

How much gear oil do I put in the mechanical fuel pump resevoir? This is for a 500 EFI and bolts to the sea water pump.

there should be a line or groove machined in the side of the resorvoir to use as a guide. Generally I just fill mine to the same level it was (because I know mine doesnt leak) after sucking out the old stuff and cleaning it. Hope that helps.

Do you have it off? I pulled mine last year after hearing about a number of failures. Those dam things have one little hole at the TOP. I pulled mine, drilled and tapped a hole at the bottom to create a drain. Now I can drain them, and re-fill til oil comes out the top hole without removing them.

Yes, I have it off. I didn't see any machined line, but I THINK I can see the old "scum" (for lack of better terminology) line. I thought about just filling to the old line, but like to be sure. Also, what am I supposed to use on the hard fuel line (threads) that screw into the brass elbows... Loctite? #?

Thanks, hope I'm being clear enough.
