Default JR marine or Hill Marine Swivel shaft?? Difference?

I need to replace my upper swivel shaft on my 98 Bravo 1because its leaks and is rusty....the factory merc isn't stainless so i see that JR marine make one and also Hill Marine makes one....which one should i get any difference in quality, or are they both made from same place?? I run salt so dont want to do aagin. jr marin is 172.00 and hill is 152.00 so about 20 bucks, dont really care about the price difference just want the better one.

Ron Bender at JR marine is great to work with. They have my vote. And yes I have used his stainless steel shafts. They will send everything you need in one box. Don't forget the lower swivel pin while you have it apart.

Hi folks,

is jr marine out of business ?
Their website jrmarine.com is down.

Have the same issue as ballon78, swivel shaft on my 92 Alpha 1 Gen. 2 leaks....
Any recommendations on how the replace the seal/shaft would be appreciated, however I think I wouldnt like to drill the 2 access holes as Mercruiser suggested.

take care, Tom

Just spoke with Ron at JH. He's super knowledgeable and very helpful. He made sure I get every little part I need for the job. Much appreciated.
