Default Tires for my '06 F250?

I have the stock Continental LT275/70R18 street tires on my truck and was looking for suggestions on good tires with a bit more meat for the mud. We go to horse shows a bunch and my tires just load up anytime I get in soft stuff. Also if I went up in diameter would that help with mpg's? How much bigger can I go with the stock truck suspention?

BTW I got a quote from the local Ford dealer on Wrangler Duratrac's $1069.08

Nitto Terra Grappler AT's on my F-250.. Love Em! Put a leveling kit on the front and you can go up in size. I currently run a Rancho 4" with 325/18 (35 in) tires. You may be able to go with a 285/18 with out a leveling kit.

Rob,

I have 2 sets. Summer and Winter
Summer are Toyo M/T. Love em but a bit loud.

Winter Cooper STT's Great in the snow and mud. They wear a bit fast though.

Overall I love the Toyo's.

Nitto Terra Grapplers.. I run my truck DAILY with over 2k# in the bed, offroading on the weekend, dirt roads DAILY, mud DAILY and have 44K on mine with some life left in them.. Been REAL happy with them, moreso than any other tire Ive ran... But Ive had Toyos that performed well too..

Cooper Discoverer Atr about a grand at Discount tire.American made, 55,000 tread warranty.Look at warranties on some of the tires for these trucks.I wanted to buy Nittos and there is no warranty on them.Talked to a guy at Discount the day I was getting my tires put on and he said he had a set of Nittos on his F-150 a year old with 15,000 miles on them and he was very dissappointed in the tread wear.

Spend some time here:
http://www.safercar.gov/portal/site/...002fd17898RCRD
and
www.tirerack.com

I would probably go with Yokohama GeoLanders. They get top marks across the board.
