Talking Pacific Offshore Extends A Challenge!

Have an Offshore Boat? Think you have what it takes to take on the racers of Pacific Offshore? There have been racers from the East Coast who have been overheard, saying, “ Hell No! I’m not going out there, their water is too big!!” Well, now’s your chance to show those West Coasters, what YOU’RE MADE OF!
The Pacific Offshore Powerboat Racing Association (POPRA) is hosting it’s third annual offshore race at Lake Havasu, Arizona on April 25, 2010. This will leave you plenty of time to get back in time for Biloxi and Ocean City. This is the inaugural event for the 2010 POPRA season. The race is more of a lake race, because it is held on the waters of Thompson Bay on the lake. The 7 mile course will extend from Thompson Bay to Copper Canyon. The race is held in conjunction with the famous Desert Storm Poker Run. Events for the weekend begin on Thursday, April 22, 2010 with a huge street party that sees upwards of 70,000 attendees. The Desert Storm Poker Run is held on Friday, April 23. There is a speed shootout on Saturday, April 24 and the weekend is capped off with the Offshore race on Sunday. The Offshore Race is sanctioned by the American Power Boat Association (APBA).
POPRA has a class for any boat capable of offshore performance. The “Performance” classes are a “run-what-you-brung” series with speed brackets regulating the competition. There are also the professional classes, regulated by APBA for the “big boys”. Log on to www.pacificoffshore.com to look at the rule book.
Plan now to make the trek across the country to join POPRA at Lake Havasu, this April.

Thanks for the invite Brad. It is one great place to race at. The last time we raced there it took a lot of people to get all the boats off the course so we could race. They are crazy about fast boats there and come out in the thousands to see a race.
