Does anyone know which model would work the best for a 12V system without a converter? How long do they hold up in a boat?

This is what I installed. I know alot of Pilots and Flying J's have different brands. I have had mine in for one season with no problems. The ones at Pilot had dvd slot on the wrong side for it to work where i wanted to put it.

Yep i know alot more options if ya go with a converter. But i do not want the hassle. "redcorvetteman" If you could do a littel reaserch. let me kow of the different models that the truckers use and how they hold up. I can't imagine more than 3 seasons out of a boat if you keep it in the boat fulltime. I would keep it in the house in winter and mount it to the boat inside the berth in summer or if i wanted to go on a trip and overnight. I was looking at the toshiba 22 611u i belive but i did not know if that one is 12V.

Good thread, I always wondered what was available in larger 12V screens. I am willing to give up pretty much most of the bells and whistles of 110V screens for 12V convenience. My TV watching needs on the boat are minimal, once in a while if i get stuck in a rain storm or something. All i need is something to maybe put up a DVD on

The old Sharps used to be fantastic for this. I have not looked at this stuff in a while but car stuff now will likely be your best bet and they have screens now up to 32" and larger!

This is the brand I see most. I took the one i have out of the boat and put it in my Kenworth for when I go on short trips. it has a 12v dc and a 115v a/c. So I could put it in the kitchen if i wanted to.
