Mike do you live in Tampa? I am moving there in a few weeks. I went from a 25 to a 33 and loved the difference, a 36 with 500's will run in the low 70's if you do a little looking in the threads below there is a fair amount of conversation regarding the 36.

If you are looking for room, the 36 has a ton, especially in the cockpit. You will see low 70's with stock motors. Later on if you do some head work, new cams and intake and carb work, you could get to 80 mph.

I'm sure your aware of salt issues down there. I'd suggest pull the t-stat housing and see how corroded the intake is. And notice the exhaust has been changed at least once. It may be time again for those alum manifolds too.
The rest of the boat looks pretty decent for a florida boat though, at least in the photo''s.
Compresssion test & leak down test. Those motors still run strong even with weaker cylinders, you don't know unless you have those #'s.
