I have been reading and researching the option of a marine gps and possibly sonar for my boat. I would like an indash GPS that would even have the ability to show me where the closest marina is, fuel pump is, restaurant on the water, etc. I would like it to be an indash unit with a fairly large screen (BLIND AS A BAT). I was considering adding sonar to the unit since we do some night running. I didn;t know if anyone has any experience running sonar in a boat doing 30-40mph in near dark. I know my shore lines well but I thought this would be nice to catch a peice of drift or a bouy etc. I would really appreciate some feedback/products/model numbers. I have heard that garmin is a gvreat unit but doesnt last forever. I have seen Northstar units in a lot of the newer boats. Any direction would be appreciated.
