I just bought a 89 checkmate convincor 251 with a 2000 volvo penta closed cooled 502 gsi and dps drive on her. (yes I know this is strange boat came orig with 460 and a omc) I have been going through the engine and found that my exhaust manifolds have seen better days and dont want to take the chance of owning a 502 paper weight. So hears my question of the day. Can I put 496 ho take off manifolds and risers on this motor and cap of the return water inlet on the manifolds as this is what looks like is done with the current manifolds and closed cooled system. Raw water in through raw water pump through heat exchanger and right out through the exhaust manifolds.

I would put a nice set of exhaust on her if I had the money but spent it all on the boat.

Find a set of the early aluminum 496 manifolds. Save some weight, dry riser joint (not wet like yours) and they flow better. A great budget upgrade in my opinion.
