Default Time for a new V bottom record?

Not an attempt to self promote here. I really would like to know what your thoughts are on this?

I think it would be cool for people like us that appreciate all that it takes to get to that speed and hold it for a record, but I also believe given the current state of economy it wouldn't promote any new sales. Would any of the builders now on razor thin margins since late 08 even allocate money for it?

I think trying to go really fast (171+) in a V-hull is not nearly as safe compared to a cat. Having driven 20' Allison outboards and 20' tunnel hulls at high speed the cat style is much more forgiving at high speeds. The faster you go in a cat the better it feels, the faster you go in a V it gets scary. Too much of the V hull is out of the water at speed with the small pad in the center to keep it running straight. I have watched too many Allison boats spin out at high speed as the prop would walk the boat around. Maybe twins would be more stable. Very few manufacturers want to spend the money chasing this and even fewer people want to be in the boat.

Sounds great but my take on it is that it's just too dangerous.
From a manufacturers standpoint it's time consuming and expensive and I just don't see how the bragging rights can justify the effort.
Sorry

Sorry
Don't be sorry Terry. I actually agree with you. I think it is extremely dangerous and obviously expensive. I also don't nec. think it would really help in sales much. Only bragging rights and proof of technological advances.

However, as a spectator, it's exciting and I miss reading about the rivalry it brought. Bill and Gino's friendly competition brings that excitement back and it just suprised me no one is taking the advantage of fountains situation.

I think it's great that you hooked up with the most respected magazine in performance boating. Congrats bro!!

I think STATEMENT! should step up to the plate and take a shot at it. Todd knows how to make a boat run.
