why are almost all of the CMI headers you see out there either leaking or have been fixed because of leaking...who wants to destroy a 20 thousand dollar motor because there headers leak. why would anyone buy them?

Not a single problem with my big e-tops. It does seem like most of the problems were with the Merc/CMI factory headers. But as stated above, I'm sure the volume on those was quite high, and "no news is good news."
I am very happy with mine, and would buy them again in a heartbeat.

Had mine e-tops fixed multiple times before finally getting rid of them.. Never had the pleasure of toasting an engine but didn't want to chance it anymore...
Several other 525, 600sci and 700sci boats at our marina had problems...
The E-tops are definitely better than the ones that come with the 525/600/700...
Any header, if it's welded stainless steel, can/will crack over time... Over the past 15 years I've seen it a lot.
rule of thumb for me...they have a 5-7 yr service life, shorter on the swept back 525,600/700...

Not even close to being a true statement
