Vinyl Cleaning Expertise Please
#1
Alright boys its spring cleaning time for me and a lot of you out there. Every year I try something new on my vinyl to try and bring out that bright white "like new" look. My cockpit interior is getting old and dingy looking but I need to get atleast one or two more seasons out of my interior before I will have to replace it. I have used magic eraser and it proves to work the best but I have also heard it is not very good on the vinyl itself. I know somebody has the magic formula for this!!! Thanks guys!

While I do not know how "good" it is for the interior, I have used the Mr. Clean Magic Erasers for a few years with great results. I haven't seen any damage to the vinyl, but I'm always sure to treat it afterwards with a conditioner as well.
I haven't found anything as good on the vinyl as the Magic Erasers.

My whole interior is white and ive tried everything. What i do now is use Vinly cleaner made by boat brite, its like a cream substance and also rolloff spray cleaner...both available at West marine. I first get the interior a little wet then i spray the rolloff then put the Vinly cleaner on and kinda give a firm wiping, it comes out like new.

I also use the Magic Erasor for the deep clean, once a yr. I just just stay off the threads. Otherwise the 3M Vinly cleaner /conditioner and a soft brush is my preference.
Always finish up with 303 protectant.
Just don't use the erasor in the cabin on your leather.

I swear by Soft Scrub. The bleach can be very damaging to the threads. I only use it once a season, rinse, then rinse again. Then I rinse one more time. I do a small section at a time and do not let it sit long. Then I really lather on the 303 protectant afterwards.

Mix about a 4 to 1 solution of water to bleach. Use it and rinse right after. Cleans everything and I have never had any problems with the threads. I have used this on all my boats and it works. Kills any mold or mildew. Check any dark colors first, I only used it on my white vinyl and then use a good vinyl conditioner and buff out.
