Changing 575sci blower oil
Just bought a 2002 29 Fountain Fever with a 575sci motor modified and warmed over by Tyler Crockett with Dart Pro1 heads and Whipple intercooler.
I was wondering how you guys change the blower oil?
The manual says to take it to a dealer due to having to remove the blower for service. Has anyone thought up a sucker to remove the oil? Thinking maybe a vacuum pump and slide a hose to the bottom and get the oil out that way without having to remove the blower?
The owner said he had all the service done when he put it up for winter but I want to be safe.
Manual says use the high performance drive oil, is that what you 575 owners use?

If you have the early model Merc/Weiand blower with a rear oil reservoir you can suck the rear oil out with a syringe. The front oil can be sucked out with an engine oil removal pump.
If it is the later model (generally '03 or newer) Merc/Weiand/Holley version with the sight glass, there is no rear bearing reservoir.
These blowers should be inspected every 100 hours if they are spun with the stock 4" pulley. If the boost has been increased with a smaller pulley, I would have it inspected for seals, bearings, and rotor timing every 50 hours.
For service it's hard to beat dmpeinc.com .

It is the 2002 weiand model with the oil reserve in both front and back. Sounds like a turkey baster with a hose attached may work good. Don't know why they didn't think of a drain plug on it?
Does anyone use anything other then the high perf outdrive oil?
Have only taken the boat out for a short run fiighting a 20-25 mph headwind and one heck of a current coming at us and without getting into the trim we hit 83mph on gps. A quick ride to check it out when I bought it, sucked it was crappy weather.
