I've been going through this ritual for three years, and it shouldn't be this hard. Mercury had some trouble (so the dealers said), with their fogging oil for a couple of years. It fouled plugs. OK fine. Then they had a TSB out on the gapping of plugs, type of plugs, etc...
Fuel injected engines should have had the .60 gap versus the standard .45 gap for carbed engines. I lost a tremendous amount of rpm's after the fogging oil episode, and regained them with new plugs. As it turns out, the tech put regular plugs in, not the specified plat plugs.
Does everyone wait until the fogging oil is gone to replace plugs or clean them? I have no desire to spend $20 each for plat plugs only to see them foul.

Do yourself a favor and do some homework on the price of those spark plugs.
Just try to make sure you buy them already gapped at .60 if you can.
