Default 502 MPI rocker help

I replaced the heads on my stock 2000 502 MPI s . I used new GM castings with same casting numbers. I just discovered that new heads have 7/16'" holes for rocker studs , not 3/8" holes for the net lash rockers that my original heads had. If I Use roller rockers will they clear my stock cast aluminum valve covers . I am looking for any other options. I am trying to keep cost down . Thanks Ed

Rollers will not clear your stock valve covers. On the cheap side you can just buy a set of steel adjustable rocker arms, Or you can get the rollers and new covers or you can double gasket the valve covers to clear the rollers. Good luck

On my HP500 EFI's they use the stock valve cover and Crane 1.7 roller rockers. You have to grind one corner off of one rocker on each head to clear the cover, otherwise they work fine.

I don't even think you need to grind off the corners on the new Crane Golds. They will clear stock valve covers. All you need to do is grind off the drip tabs on the underside of the valve covers.

One of the bolt bosses molded into the cover comes too close on the second valve in, both my engines had 1 ground on each side and it looks pretty tight if you don't. There are molded Gen V valve covers.
