Best Shocks for '99-'04 superduty for towing
Any opinions on the best shocks for the '99-'04 superduty??? I'm looking for the best ride quality.
Had good luck with Bilsteins on the GMC but wanted some other opinions.
Going dual shock in the front if that changes anything.
*EDIT - forgot to mention it has a 4" lift*

Forgot to mention the truck has a 4" lift so that may complicate things and limit my options. Someone else had recommended KYB as being comparable to Bilstein at a much lower cost.
Edelbrock may be an option too as I believe they come in longer lengths.
Other options I know of from the usual lift kit manufacturers (fabtech, rancho, etc) but the quality is sometimes questionable.

Love the Bilsteins on my '00 but it's a stock height 2WD. There is not THAT much model-unique tuning that goes on for aftermarket like there is for OE shocks. Sometimes the tune is better than stock, sometime worse. Shop for quality so that at least performance is consistent over a decent life span.

Diesel Tech magazine built a Dodge 3500 4x4 dually with a 4" lift, 22.5" wheels and heavy H-rated commercial tires. They went with Bilsteins to cure the wander and wobble they got from the lift and heavy tires/wheels.
So I don't see why the Bilsteins wouldn't work for your truck. And remember, you get what you pay for...

I had KYBs on my old F350, when my new F250 needs shocks I'll be getting those. The ride was firm and "trucky" but not over the top stiff with good control over the bumps. +

I will have to say billstiens i have a 01 F250 4x4 lifted 6 in on 35x12.5 20's
and i love them them i have had them on for six years and no problems rides like stock i also tow everyday with this truck alsoi have the front double shocked that helps with the ride.

I have the Billsteins on my 99 F350 now for 150,000 miles and love them. No problems and they just plain work. The truck drives much better then with the stock shocks.
