525's & #6's should be bullet proof.......the hatch on the bow would be perfect for drug smuggling.......

They did. I'm a former Team guy . In the late 80's and early 90's we had a number of 40ft Fountains running with the teams and Special Boat Units. The Special Boat Unit 12 finally retired the Fountains around 94-95 or so and had been in them many times. I was at the unit from 98-2000. The were replaced by the HSB,( High Speed Boat) built by USMI in the early 90's. The biggest issue with the Fountains were how low they sat in the ass end. It's not an issue during calm water, but sitting on a picket line for 12 hours in a gale is a whole different story. That's why the HSB's had more freeboard.
