I have a 24 outlaw with a 700hp blower motor, it is for sale but I am thinking of keeping it for the summer. I want to make it more family friendly. What speed will a 496ho run in a 1996 outlaw? It is a heavy boat but I can get this engine with silent choice for a very reasonable price.. The boat is just to loud with the current engine and dry exhaust. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks

It should run out at about 60 mph with the 496.

Will the gibson mufflers quiet it down a lot? The turn downs look like a great idea, any way water can get in the motor? Are there flaps on the inside of a turn down?

. and for the lake poker runs, so I am going with clamp on. what ever is cheaper is which one I will by and when installed have a wire bolted to them in case they get loose. I do have a pair of 4 1/2'' shot guns but think the new tails will be 5'' if 4 1/2'' I will try them 1st ,there a little louder than the others from what I heard.

with a ho about 66 to 67 thats what I got with a 502 stock merc with a m 25 prop it was 16yrs ago so I think rpm was 4800. that motor was to run either 4700 to 5000 or 4800 to 5000. Iwould keep the blower motor run mufflers.
