The new format of the Shoot-out allows everyone to compete within 16 different classes.
Each boat will be issued a hand-held GPS, certified with the event.
Officials will distribute the GPS units to all boat captains at the mandatory captains meeting the morning of the poker run, and verify throughout the day that each GPS remains onboard the specific vessel it was assigned.
The GPS units will then be collected at the end of the day along with the poker hand cards.
Event officials will then activite the "Trip Recall" feature on each GPS, and verify poker run participation (trip distance) which will be required for Shoot-Out entry eligibility.
If the boat entry has successfullly completed all stops of the poker run, maximum MPH will be "recalled" from the GPS and the number will be posted for that boat.
Boats can find "good water" and safe conditions anytime during the day including "a light run" at the end of the day when fuel is low and you're heading to the trailer after off-loading your crew.
You may also offload your crew onto another boat during the event for any leg of the poker run to swap opportunities with your fellow boaters to "run light", (or steal their women!)
SOUNDS LIKE FUN TO ME!
NOTE:
(Yes, if the boat breaks and does not complete the poker run, the entry is disqualified from the Shoot-Out. However, captain and crew are still eligible for the poker hand event if they make alternate plans to have their cards collected by other boats.)
(Yes, Captains of each boat will be required by event rules to refrain from any alcohol consumption during the day's on-water activities.)

The Texas Outlaw Challenge is based on the interest of meeting fellow high performance boaters, enjoying on-water activities and inviting new friendships.
The GPS Shoot-Out is designed to have new people meet each other, swap crews, ride a number of different boats during the event, and enjoy high performance boats & people.
However, there will be a area of the Bay marked off for individual runs that is secure and isolated from boat traffic.
This area is not on the Poker Run course, but can be used throughout the day for boating as desired.
(Shawn, I can hardly wait to smell that rocket fuel in the Motion when you fire it up Friday night...your slip is waiting!)
It is always the responsibility of the boat Captain to operate his equipment in a safe and respectful manner with regards to his crew and fellow boaters.
