Default Slipping in San Diego?

My wife and I are planning on taking our boat to San Diego Aug. 1-8. Can anyone recommend a marina that we could rent a slip in for the week. I looked at the Marriott but they want $90 per night plus parking. I'd also have to find a place to store the trailer so that means more $. Just seems a little too pricey and a lot more hassle than I want to deal with.

Make a reservation at the transient dock in the customs building on shelter island. Way cheap like 20 bucks a night or something. Close restrooms, close fuel, and close access to your car. I'm not sure but think they allow several consecutive nights before you have to leave or move..

There's also a few decent places to anchor as well. I don't know about booking out that far in advance though. Have to call.

I have my fishing boat down at Kona Kai Marina on Shelter Island and most likely will be out chasing tuna in early August. You are free to use my slip in my absence. You can park your truck and trailer at the Shelter Island boat ramp and walk accross the street to where my slip is. My boat will hold up to 38' LOA.

Default San Diego slips

The marriott is THE most expensive! Most of the local marinas have guest slips. The ones in Chula Vista are the least expensive. We have great FREE ramps and plenty of free parking at the ramp. It may be just as easy to pull out everyday. The Sea World/Mission bay ramp is 10 boats wide and parking for probably 200 trailers. I think this is the only ramp with water though. All the others are dry. Oceanside has water and plenty of guest docks but limited parking.

Be very careful about using the water and dump station with a boat. It's okay to use it for a 1969 nasty azz gross polluting RV but get caught washing your 100K plus boat down and you'll pay a fine.

There is a sign and it's always posted. Just so ya know - There technically are NO fresh water washdown areas in the entire San Diego Area. Only one is in Oceanside 39 miles north.

thanks for all the replies, some real good information. I cancelled my reservation at the Marriott. As of today I have tentative reservation at Marina Village in Mission Bay.

Shad, I just saw your offer, very generous of you. I'm definately interested. We planned on arriving in San Diego Aug 1 and leaving Aug 8th. If we could work something out I'd be very appreciative. I'll keep in touch with Marina Village in case we can't make this happen. PM me if you would like.
