Default What will a 48Ft Fountain Express cruiser top out at?

A friend picked up a 2006 48Ft Fountain Express Cruiser.
He is wondering what this should do.
It has triple Yanmar Diesels 480HP with Arneson drives.

Thumbs up

Imagine, if you will, a pleasure palace powered by two 480 Cummins diesels. It will top out at 51 and cruise at 42 getting 1.7 mpg. And, if you fancy the punch of gas, the 48EC powered by three MerCruiser 525s and Bravo III XR drives will still let you cruise at 50 and then top out at searing 63-mph.

Wait! It gets better. With triple 480 hp diesel engines it will allow you to cruise…cruise, mind you…at 50-mph—while barely sipping fuel: a little over one mile per gallon. Advance the throttles and power out to the islands at 63-mph.

from fountain's web site.

Bull****, you put a load of people on the 48' and it slows way down...that 50-55 is much more realistic.

The 48EC is an awesome boat no matter which package you choose.

Triple YANMAR 440's - 60MPH

Triple Cummins 480's - 63MPH

Triple Mercury 525EFI - 68MPH

Triple Mercury 700's - 90MPH

Fuel and weight of passengers does not really effect top speed of boat.
