Default Latest with Powerplay & the molds???

So what's the story on PP and the molds? Heard rumors circulating that the molds were going up for sale and found out they have already been purchased. Just curious what was up...

The original PP was dismantled by the courts over 5 years ago. Someone on OSO ( )bought the molds at auction and sold them to Tom Mason of Midnight Express fame. He never really did much with them. I saw a new 38 Sportdeck w/600's at the Palm Beach boat show a few years back but it was no where near as nice as the one's Danny built. My buddy who had a 33 and 38 was with me and pointed out some flaws that would have never made it out of the PP factory under Dan's watch. The 600 boat was heading to S. America and I never saw it or another new 38 since.

I think the hardest thing to replicate is the quality and attention to detail. The molds are older now and not exactly state of the art anymore. I think I would rather buy a Danny built 38 and put a few bucks in restoring it/ customizing it than trying to build one from scratch.

There are a dozen or so 38's out there. A Top Gun with identical power will be 4-5 miles an hour faster and are way more plentiful from which to chose.

The Step Hull 38 ft Mold that ultimatly put Danny down ,was sold to SUNSATION from the bank. It's the platform for the there 42 with intergraded swimplaform to add the extra lenght .some small mods were made as well . The rest went to Auction .

Sunsation only bought a 38 hull then "tweaked"it into their 42 which they made their own molds for.
The Molds for the 38 ,as i understand, were bought by Steve (former OSO owner) at the auctions then proceeded to sell them to Midnight Express i believe. My buddy was at the auctions that day and bought the molds for the 25 for his company.

Latitude Powerboats is building from the former 33' Powerplay molds. Below is a link to most recent build. Team Latitude will update the forum as the build moves forward.

He was going to buid one hull and mod it into a 28 CC Fishing boat with an integrated transom for outboards.....but wit the economy like it is he is holdin off on that idea. And if someone was serious about buying the 25 molds he would probably sell them. If you want to talk to him just give him a call 954 - 629 - 5275 his name is Karl.

They have not been used since the last time PP made a boat...but they are VERY well taken care of....he has all the molds waxed and shrink wraped once a year to keep them in good shape.....

Does he have the deck mold? I remember it laying on the ground at the auction.

he has all the molds for the 25 O/b and I/O versions....and i think he has the some of the CC Molds as well....the only thing i think he said he didnt get was the patterns for sizing the stringers.....he was going to figure it out on the first build but obviously never doen it yet...he was always looking for another local boat to go and take a look at and take some measurements of parts but never did.
