I have a 19ft 97 Scarab and the fuel pump doesn’t work, because I tried an outboard tank with a primer ball and as long as I kept priming it the engine wouldn't stop. I bought a new Sierra electric fuel pump 18-7326 and it started up and ran fine for awhile then the fuel pump started smoking. I turned off the engine. I tried it again it didn't smoke, sat at idle for a little bit then revved it a little and it started smoking again. Is this a faulty fuel pump or am I missing something?
