Hey guys-
My boat is in the shop and apparently the upper gears in my lower unit are shot. 2 teeth broke for some reason. We're having a huge problem finding the parts we need! Calls to every possible place we can think of are coming up dry. They say they are back ordered something like 3 weeeks or more! i don't know sh!t about whatever part we're looking for. Here is what my mechanic told me we need though..........

150 ratio gear, 27 pinion-32 forward/reverse.

Not sure what all info you might need but my boat is a 2002 Baja 25 Outlaw, Bravo 1, 496HO.

You don't have enough power to need a spare, but buying a good condition used (upper only?) might be your best bet to get on the water soon.

im not looking for a spare. i just wanna be on the water asap! apparently this part im after runs between 1,000 and 1,300 bucks! so i wanna know WHAT is it? and WHERE can i buy it? I need it like NOW!

It's the entire gear set (3 gears)......and it's at least that much. Plus labor. Since those need to be replaced, I hope your mechanic looks real close at the bearings, etc...you might need a couple other (cheaper) parts.

call Doug or Matthew at performance brokerage, should have something. also try bergers, johnny's high perfomance, advanced marine.

thanks guys. i'll try and get a part # or something tomorrow from my mechanic and then call the ones mentioned. in the mean time....i'm still looking for ideas on places to look so keep them coming!

There is a good chance we have the gear set or an upper rebuild kit on the shelf.

Normally the HO comes with an X drive, but with that serial yours is the standard version.

Verify the part number you need and check with us in the AM. Email is better, the phone will be ringing off the hook tomorrow.
