I have a 99 272 Boss and was looking to swap out the stock exhaust pipes, just the portion coming out of the transom.
- How much for parts?
- How hard is the install?
- Any changes to the tone/sound or even volume?
Not looking to sounds anything obscene like off-road pipes with straight-thrus on a car. I just want a nice chromed look coming out the back without changing the stock tone too much.

I just bought the Hardin Marine Angle Cut tips and they where around 140.00 a set very good quality without the "ting" noise of the metal flappers...
What do you currently have now? If you have mufflers they'll be noticeably different if you have pipes already you'll not have any difference.

You probably have the stock Corsa exhaust with the mufflers. We ordered Dana tips, but have not been installed yet. I think the Dana tips were $135 a piece and I not sure what labor will be, maybe a few hours if all goes well. I would assume $1,000 total for twins.

Irish - Looking closer at them, I assume they are actually mufflers as mpally suggested.
Where did you guys purchase the tips? I don't think this should be a tough install, hopefully similar to car exhaust installs where it's just gaskets and screws.

If all goes well, it probably wouldn't be a difficult job, but you know how that can go. A lot depends on how the old ones were installed and what type of sealant was used. Make sure you seal the back up good when you install the new tips.

I finally had a chance to run the boat with the new tips this past weekend. I can definitely tell a difference. The new tips are louder and the tone is deeper both at idle and at speed when compared to the stock Corsa tips. The guys at the dock noticed it immediately without knowing we had new tips put on. One guy said it's twice as loud now. Tough to say, but definitely louder.

Thanks for the test-run follow-up. Question though, how do you prevent water from coming into and up through the pipes while anchored? At one cover where I anchored, it wasn't totally clear of the channel and every now and again some stray wake would find itself trying to go back up the pipes.
Are there any flaps or protection on the pipes that you installed?

mine look like this ont he out side

Mine has the full pipe (big hole )and you can see the butter fly flappes on the inside.
the picture below has the same outer flaps, but the picture where the flap is open, it has has a smaller hole, mine does NOT look like that. that is a muffled tip, DID YOURS LOOK LIKE THIS OR NOT? mpally?
