With the new muffler laws in place I just want some comments....Here in Canada the laws are somewhat different from the U.S laws. We have no Db ratings to adhere to...rather ALL boats MUST have a PERMANENT muffler in place. That means the Captains Call, Silent Choice, switch diverter system does NOT pass and IS a Fineable offense whether exhaust is open or closed when stopped by authorities. Strange...yup......anywho...it is a $500.00 ticket!
The guys at Double R Performance can tell you all about it AND fix your boat to meet the law....very affordably!! About the cost of the ticket for single engine boats.
Sooooo....comments please...your thoughts...what are you gonna do?...not do?...lol I just had Double R fab up some tips with mufflers that won't affect the performance of my boat....legal again.

Actually the Captains Call isn't legal in the states either. If exhaust is above the water thats where they test it. I'm fortunate in Michigan on St.Clair they don't enforce it unless you give them a reason to pull you over.
I'm now straight pipes with headers and open tips so far no problems.

I still don't understand that law about captains choice being illegal in a lot of states. Indiana also says it's illegal but I don't think there is a noise limit which doesn't make sense then saying captains choice is illegal. Can someone explain then if captains choice has baffles in them isn't that like a muffler? I talked to the DNR about it and asked them if it has a baffle and you can run your boat with it coming out the exhaust legal then why is it having the switch to make it silent while going at night or in channels so not to make people mad and they couldn't give me an answer and they didn't understand why, just only that it's a law and they are to go by that.
