can anyone give me a pic of how they have a bat boost setup. If my bats die I will have a heck of a time opening my hatch.

All you should have to do is use a small jumper wire from a good battery or battery charger to the back of the hatch switch.

of course figuring out why the batts are dieing all the time might be sort of near the top of your list of things to do as well.

You can buy posts for this. They have plastic covers over them to keep you from shorting them out. If you connect to a random power and ground in the boat some place make sure that you do not over work the circuit. In other words if the wire that you pick is only 18 guage then don't put a charger on it that is set to 40 amps of charge.
