Default 496 HO Alarm

Hey Guys:

Quick question, I was running my 2008 26 Outlaw yesterday trying to get some numbers for a new prop. Anyway I was focused on the trim, RPM and my GPS when I got a beeping alarm. As soon as I came off the throttle the alarm stoped and I could not duplicate the condition. When it happened the tach was a hair over 5,000 RPM. Does the 496 HO give you an alarm as you approach the rev limiter ? I checked all fluids / pressures / temperatures and they were all fine.

Thanks,

Steve

Yep, that's the rev limiter beeping at you. You were probably tapping the 5100 mark intermittenly. Been there, done that a few times.

Is that all it will do is beep or will it eventually prevent the rev from going higher?

It will prevent the rev from going higher as well. The beep is there to give you an audible for whats going on. What prop and speed are you getting?

As soon as I heard the beeping I came off the throttle so I assume I never got into the rev limiter. Running the stock 23P I was seeing 64.2 at 5,000 RPM with 1/2 fuel and two people on board.
