I have a 3/4 dodge hemi 3.73 max tow is 8800
the same truck with 4.10 is rated 10500 i believe
So this tells me the limiting factor is the tranny. so if i pull 10000 with my 3.73 truck it may just be too much for the transmission or what??
Does the cummins diesel have a different transmission?
truck is 03 BTW

The tranny is the limiting factor, primarily heat buildup. Tow in Drive not OD will help. Cummins has a totally different trans (automatic) since the torque pulses of diesel are so much more stronger.
Put an additional cooler on the tranny and a temp gauge also.

I pulled my 30 Baja with my 04.5 Dodge 2500 4x4 diesel(FOR SALE by the way) with an auto and didn't have any problem at all. Had the stock trans cooler and even pulled it in Colo up and down mountains and never missed a beat. Serviced in regularly and no complaints or problems.
