Hi Guys,

There is a pretty cherry Velocity 322 up at the auction tomorrow. I think I can get it for way below book value. The only thing holding me back is that it only has the 320HP 6.2L motors.

Is this thing going to be a pig? What can I expect it to run?

I have a customer that is looking for something in that size and price range and wanted to see what you guys thought.

It should run 65 mph and get decent fuel economy is why Velocity choose the 6.2's for the fuel misters buyers market. If you can pick it up cheap enough runn it till it quits then a nice set of 500's would be in order to wake it up.

That boat has been up on ebay quite a few times over the past few months. I like it. By the pics it looks to be in very good shape.

It's going up at the Dallas auction. It should bring somewhere in the high 50's, low 60's I'm guessing.

The guy I was looking to buy it for says that it is just out of his price range.

Anyone want to get this one on the cheap?

It was on ebay and did not sell with offers in the high 50's. If you have an ebay account, sign in and search for velocity under boats. Then check the box on the left for completed auctions. You can then see all auctions that have recently ended and in this case the best offer that was refused/declined.

If you can get it in the 50s-60s it will be a good buy. I think NADA is somewhere in the 70s...

Actually, isn't it the "old" original 30 bottom? Anyone, know how these compare weight wise to the original 30's? I would think it would run at least 70 with the small blocks, unless it's a bunch heavier...

Correct - it is the original 30' hull. Powerboat Mag tested a 322 with the same power 2 or 3 years ago in Sarasota and as I recall, it tested at approx. 70 MPH but I had heard that Bob Teague didn't get everything out of it. The 322 is indeed heavier and has a much taller deck then the original 30 (taller then the 320 also). Comparing the flat deck 30 to the 322 deck profile is similar to comparing a 390 to a 410 or a VR1 to a 290.

if I remember right some of the old 30's had 330 trs and ran in the low 70's ,

Our '88 with 330's & Bravos was a solid 75mph boat.
