Default Dextron III in a Velvet Drive...?

Will Dextron III work in a 1987 Velvet Drive?

I was told by my transmission rebuilder that a Ford style Type F or equivelant is the only fluid I should ever put in my BW drives. He said that the type F is better under constant load that a boat transmission will see.

Not sure about that, but I use Castrol Dex/Merc Domestic Multi Vehicle atf. For use in older Ford and GM vehicles. Can't go wrong, got it at Advanced Auto.
After filling, start engine, shift into forward and reverse, let idle at 1500 rpm for 2 minutes, turn off engine and check level on dipstick. Fill to full line and you're system is full.
