40K Budget 7500 LBS Tow Capacity Which Boat

So I'm getting back into the boating world and have just started looking. My plan is to give myself a good 6 months or so to find the right boat. First things first, as the description says I have around a 40K budget in mind and have a tow capacity of 7500 with my Porsche Cayanne V8.

I'm considering 28 to 33 foot as the boat will mainly be used in the Chesapeake Bay area. 29 Scarabs seem to fit into my bill right now as I seem to be able to find a late 90's early 00 for around that price.

Leaning towards a single screw but would consider twins.

I'm also big on the boat having a nice cabin area to allow for overnights, but the boat must still maintain the sporty look.

Any suggestions or directionl would be greately appreciated.

How about a 288 Sunsation. Lots of older one's available, handles rough water well. Available in full or mid cabin.

For 46K you can pick up a nice 1999 31 Sonic that is in the classifides.

Velocity 280
Scarab 29
Sonic 26
Active thunder 25 or 28 hard to find
29 fountain

Honestly, I would not consider towing any more than a 22 Donzi or 20 Cigarette with a Porche Cayanne. That short wheelbase is going to have very little towing stability.

Also, make sure you have Electric over Hydrualic brakes. Surge brakes will push that SUV all over the place.

With your vehicle/tow rating, I would stay with a single engine range if you are going I/O. With the fact that you are running near/around the bay, get as long as you can with a decent cabin. I think you might add Baja 272 to By You Boy's list, and maybe Powerquest 280. Not sure of headroom of Donzi 26 or Formula 27 Fastech.

I recently bought my Velocity 290SC to run the waters you are thinking of and I consider it to be a good match, but unfortunately, above the budget you stated...

at 40k you're pretty limited. I think theres a 1989 refurbished 27 activator with power for under that price. I'd also strongly suggest a 29 kryptonite, but im partial LOL.
