Default 290 haul

Hey guys, I'm new to the offshore scene, and this is my first PQ. I've heard you guys talk about the fact that these boats weren't built to be the fastest, yet I'll ask anyways. Whats the peak speed or threshold that you can get out of the 290 haul? I'm seeing 71 GPS on 89 octane, 23 p three blade, 3/4 tank gas. stock 502s

I love this boat, and just wondering if I can dream about the future of this boat or just enjoy it as it is?

I think you mean HULL..........not sure it will HAUL much, and where would you mount the hitch??
Actually, I think 71 is pretty good with your setup. Not sure more speed would be worth the expense necessary to get it on a PQ. They're not race boats, so you'd easily spend more than the value of the boat to get another 10mph.

Red face

well, I always said that I slipped through the education system in English and grammar! Dam spell check failed me again! LOL. I guess I don't need to know how to spell to be a pilot!

Thanks for the info. I gathered that it would be more money than what it's worth, however didn't know the HULLS potential or if it was already there?

71 mph on GPS is pretty good for a 290,
290s have a pretty good size rocker built in the bottom right in front of the trim tabs to help with porpoise, thats kind like having your tabs a little down all the time and that slows you down.

Agree with above comments, my 290 with stock 454's runs about 71 on gps with the right conditions...but one day this year the stars must have aligned and I hit 74.

That's what I am seeing on my GPS with the same set-up.... with 23, 3 blades and stock 502's.
