My buddys 500 efi has a miss in it and the #1 cyl header tube is getting much hotter than the rest, changed the plugs so far and did not help.

Sounds like it's getting lean, possibly a bad injector. Ohm it out compared to the rest and see if the number is different. Was the plug white? You may also have to swap it just to check, it is not that hard to pull the manifold and swap it to a different cylinder.
